The average of all experiences isnt that important
This is a great rule that I found in the book Subject to Change written by the guys from Adaptive Path. I think its a fantastic way to look at continual development of experiences... as you always want to be the top and the last. The Adaptive guys call the top one the WOW factor.. which I think is something everyone needs to look for as we start to build more and more of them.

very good point in this post. I believe it is something that a lot of people overlook as far as overall experience rather than kust the peaks.
The social psychologist Barry Schwartz illustrates this point well in his book The Paradox of Choice, using the peak-end phenomenon to describe how our poor a faculty our memory is when it comes to decision-making. I'm glad you reminded me of him and his lectures, he inspires a lot of insightful thinking about how people make decisions in everyday life.
