Nikeplus... what Nikeplus

So everyone has been asking for what is the next nikeplus... what is the next cool piece of technology that will connect your brand with their audience leading to a long term relationship. I think this is a pretty awesome one.

What I love about the original Nokia application for the skate board is that it can connect with the virtual world of gaming.

Think about this for all sports and activities. You can get all the data punch it into your computer analyse your technique. This would be great for my golf swing.

Nice work nokia... hopefully if you tap this into a better OS on your smartphones you can start to get a more mental edge on the competition.(supposedly nokia smartphones still outsell other suppliers.. they just are at the bottom end)

Very cool hack competition for the N900 phone

I love a good hack competition and the guys at Nokia havent let us down with this one. Hyperhappen have built a nice little blog to give you the rundown. I think people's creativity should always be put on show by brands. As the way that people address things can often be completely different. This straight away broadens the potential benefits that people see in the product/service. So in the whole argument of crowdsourcing or co-creation etc. Is this just a simple way to continually broaden benefits in the eyes of the consumer... could do

Maybe an iPhone Killer....

Now I love my iPhone and I am about to get the next one. But Nokia have thrown something in the mix that looks pretty awesome. The N900 which has an open source software package called maemo 5 which is a hell of a lot better than their usual symbian software. But after doing a little project for Nokia on Ovi. I realise that its not all its cracked up to be and they are struggling to get the app store working for a number of their devices. I also feel that the interface is a real struggle and just looks as well as makes me feel like its going to be too hard. I still have their old music store on my desktop from when I had an N95 which is terrible in comparison to iTunes as well as the new music software we are all becoming accustom to like spotify.

The interesting take out is that Nokia are addressing the problem. They want to become an entertainment service company and this is a step in the right direction. But in order to do that they have to make the service seamless and beautiful which apple are often good at.

so see above for a cool viral for the N900

Some inspiring stuff from Nokia's Design Department

Crystal Rain, originally uploaded by _Seahawk_.

I found this great presentation from the Nokia Design department through Dino over at Chroma. Great to see a company taking co-creation and a greater simpler usability into their focus. Should be interesting in the phone market in the coming years.

Greatest Job in the World

So everyone has been posting a lot about a guy with the greatest job in the world. Jan Chipchase from Nokias futures department. Here is an interesting rundown of a day or two of his life as a 'digital nomad' from the economist.

Check out his presentations on his website. Awesome
